Which Grade for Farm Use?
For straightforward storage on a farm or ranch, a Wind & Watertight (WWT) grade container is typically the practical choice. These are about 15 years old on average — you should expect dents, patches, and surface rust, but they are dry, secure, and functional. WWT is the most affordable grade.
If the container will be visible to customers or the public, a Cargo Grade or One-Trip New container has better cosmetics.
Permits on Agricultural Land
Rural and agricultural land in Texas is often exempt from permitting requirements for storage containers. Check with your county for any specific requirements — in most cases, a container placed on farm or ranch land for storage does not require a building permit.
